The Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Emergency Assistance Program is intended to help people in our parish, Poquoson and York County who have a temporary emergency financial need and who have exhausted other available resources. our assistance is limited to $300 per household per year.
Completing this online form is a request for an interview with one of our program volunteers. Tuesday 1-3 pm and Thursdays 9-11 am. Interviews are appointment ONLY.

Help is needed with sorting, displaying and straightening items on shelves. The proceeds from the Thrift Shop are then used to help the needy in Poquoson and York County. Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm. and on Thursdays from 10 am - 6:30 pm

Volunteers assist in the food pantry, stocking shelves and distributing food to those in need. The food pantry is located in the Parish Thrift Shop in Poquoson.
The Parish Thrift Shop and Food Pantry are no longer overseen by the Diocese or St. Kateri Parish. We ask for parish support for these two important ministries which benefit the poor an marginalized of Poquoson and York County. The Thrift Shop is now an independent 501 (C)3 organization, which includes the food pantry.
St. Kateri supports the nondenominational Kairos Prison Ministry at Sussex II State Prison in Waverly, VA. It responds to Christ''s call in Mt. 25: 34-36 to visit the prisoner. We do this each year through two four-day training programs, one in spring and one in fall, two one'day instructional programs and monthly two-hour reunions. Pope Francis' encyclicals "Laudato Si" (Care for Creation) and "FratelliTutti" (Human Fraternity and Solidarity) are the focus of this ministry that works to keep St. Kateri in step with the care of our planet and each other. People Offering Resources Together Volunteers work a night or two dureing the course of the winter months at an assigned church cooking and serving meals to the homeless. This is usually around Thanksgiving time. Contact Ray Mineck at remineck@gmail.com
St. Kateri is twinned with St. Michel Parish in Boucan-Carre in the Diocese of Hinche. The Haiti Committee works closely in partnership with Sacred Heart Cahedral in Knoxville, TN to facilitate local parish involvment. St. Kateri's focus is on education support with two major fundraising activities: Student Sponsorshop Program and the Run with the Son for Haiti 5K. The committee meets on the third Wednesday of the monthe, 6:30 pm at the church. Please visit the Haiti Ministry webpage for more information.
